    • August 25, Thursday, NPC meeting, 7 pm, YMCA, Ross Road.
    • August 28, Sunday, ARES/RACES Communications Training, 1 pm, Cubberley Community Center, D4. Ham radio operators only. Register
    • September 2, Friday, ESV SELF DEFENSE Training starts, 7 – 8:30 pm. The “Know Your Neighbors” grant program has funded the ESV program for a self-defense series of 8 sessions. There is a small charge of $20 to attend. Any person wishing to take this training must have a current ESV ID. Classes are scheduled for Sept. 2, 9, 23, 30, October 14 and 28, November 4 and 18.     • September 10, Saturday, ARES/RACES Communications Training, 1 pm, Cubberley Community Center, D4. Same training as August 28th. Ham radio operators only. Register
    • September 14, Wednesdays, Citizens’ Police Academy. The Citizens Police Academy runs for eight consecutive Wednesday nights, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at various City of Palo Alto facilities. The session begins on September 14 and ends on November 2. There is no cost for participation, but the class is limited to 25 students. Applications for this session are due no later than Sunday, August 7, 2016. Interested members of the community may download a Basic Citizens Police Academy application here. Completed applications should be e-mailed to pd@cityofpaloalto.org, sent via U.S. Mail to the Palo Alto Police Department (attention to Citizens Police Academy), or dropped off at the front desk of the police station during normal business hours (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
