National Night Out (NNO) encourages residents to come out and meet their neighbors – at a block party or a city sponsored event. Build Your Neighborhood Community… And funding is available for local neighborhood events via a “Know Your Neighbors Grant” (KYN)!! The city has increased the amount that can be provided to a block to fund the event. The new amount is now $700 and $1200 for a neighborhood event. Please note: “Know Your Neighbor” grants are not just for NNO, they can be used at any time, until city funding runs out. Everyone loves a party!!! and a KYN grant can be used to cater the event.
NNO is a great opportunity to build community – recruit for your neighborhood association boards/committees or use this opportunity to recruit more Emergency Service Volunteers – Block Preparedness Coordinator’s or CERTs (Community Emergency Response team).
